New Year, New SMART Goals: I guess I’ll try the smart way this year

I’ll admit it. I didn’t really set any real goals in 2014. However, this year I decided to set some official yet SMART goals for 2015!

I wouldn’t call them resolutions, but every year I plan a few listed items that I would like to accomplish within the year. I chose them based on where I am in life and where I want to be in the future. I am aware that without setting goals and establishing a plan then all else is void. I can continue the conversation in my mind for days, hours, and minutes, but I needed to write them down. Yet, this time make them SMART.

Do you know what SMART stands for? Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Results-Focused. Time bound. Before when I set goals, they weren’t SMART goals. Not only were they not SMART goals, but they weren’t realistic. For instance, one of my goals in past years were to lose 20 pounds, and that’s it! I didn’t explain the many how questions. You know how I was going to do it, how long would I do it, how often would I check my weight, nothing.

According to Habakkuk 2:2, it reads to “…Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables…” I am making my vision and plans known in a SMART way this time. I will be creating a vision board over the weekend. I can’t wait to show you all.

Here are my goals for 2015:

Personal Growth
– Enhance my career in youth development
– Join local Toastmasters
– Save at least $10 per month
– Attend 1 network event a month (work, personal, writing event)
– Read 12 new books

Spiritual Growth
– Assist the children and youth ministry
– Build a spiritual relationship with someone new from church
– Implement new activities for the nursery
– Read 2 new Christian books (not limited to The Bible)
– Give more financially to church

Always PHREA Growth
– Freelance once a month
– Finish Daily Navigation by February
– Write either on the book or blog 3 times a week
– Launch book tour and introduce new products
– Blog 2 times a month
– Complete the BlogHer’s January Prompts
– Host a workshop

Now that I’ve shared mine, tell yours. What are your SMART goals for 2015? How did you chose them?

    • Thanks Ashley! I enjoy reading, but I’ve been limited to the number of books due to my work schedule. I’m trying to incorporate more me time. I’m glad you enjoyed reading the post!

  1. I like your goals. Especially attending one network event a month. I want to get my blog involved in social events in the area.
