Happy Labor Day! While most are enjoying their extended weekends to close out the summer, others are relaxing from a day off of their work week. According to the Department of Labor, was created as a movement of the laborers in the late 19th century. It focused on the American workers’ accomplishments both socially and economically. Most importantly, Labor Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to the workers.
How are you commemorating this day? Since I’m off from my full-time gig, I am focusing on knocking out another chapter hopefully of my first novella, and possibly relaxing by the pool.
However, if you are lost for ideas, here is a quick list of 5 ways to celebrate your labor day:
You can use today as an opportunity to spend with your family! You can cue up the grill or boil a pot of blue crabs, and have a great laugh!
2) Plan a Day-In
Instead of going out, read a new book or catch up on the latest shows you’ve been missing because of your crazy schedule. You can turn off your phone for a few hours, and just enjoy your day in.
3) Keep it Local
Labor Day Weekend is filled with tons of events from baseball games, fireworks, festivals, music, and many others. Check out your area’s latest calendar of events to find somewhere to go! I use EventBrite mostly for event ideas.
4) Shop til’ you Drop
While most jobs are closed on Labor Day, the majority of retailers are open and with a HUGE SALE!! You can rack up on next year’s summer gear for the SO, kids, and yourself, and save some major dollars!
5) Water! Water! Water!
Most pools are closing soon. Today is a great day to head out into the pools or drive along the sandy coast to the nearest beach.
